Montavilla | SE Portland
ALL ABOUT
The Historic Montavilla neighborhood is a flourishing community dating back almost 110 years. Located in Southeast Portland, it's just minutes from beautiful Mt. Tabor and the exciting Hawthorne District, though the growing strip of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, and theaters along SE Stark is gaining a hip reputation of its own. Surrounding the charming commercial district is a large residential neighborhood of neat, modest houses and well-kept yards. This close-knit neighborhood has one of the best community support systems in town, and neighbors are often organizing picnics, benefits for the farmers' market, or chatting at the Bipartisan Cafe.
Montavilla is one of the remaining few affordable neighborhoods west of 82nd with all of the charm and excitement of an inner Eastside neighborhood, and it's only going to get better. Every house on the tree-lined streets is a cute remodel or fixer-upper just waiting for someone to show it a little love. Grab your spot in Montivilla before the secret of its charm gets out and housing prices shoot up to match its potential.
LOCATION
Montavilla stretches from I-84 south to Division & I-205 west to SE 76th Ave with a small inclusion from Burnside to 68th Ave. The main commercial district on SE Stark stretches from 82nd west to Mount Tabor. The name Montivilla is actual a syllabic abbreviation of "Mt. Tabor Villa" because the cute neighborhood is nestled in the shadow of Portland's own volcano.

A SENSE OF COMMUNITY & HISTORY
The new and improved Academy Theater features three screens, as well as reclining stadium seating with generous leg room. The full scale renovation of this 1948 theater saw a careful restoration of the glittering rounded lobby with its two-story dome and the signature marquee for an authentic charm. With modest ticket prices you can afford a slice from a plentiful selection from Flying Pie Pizzeria, or grab yourself a microbrew to enjoy during the movie.
Just two years ago, a large group of local residents and business owners joined together to start the Montavilla Farmers Market helping to foster a community spirit aimed at continuing the revival of this historic area. Running June through October, the Market offers a fine selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally made cheeses and other foods, handcrafted goods, and features various demonstrations and entertainment.

FAVORITE RESTAURANTS
Flying Pie Pizzeria
Specializing in homemade, hand-thrown "Pizza with Pride", they boast homemade and hand-rolled dough daily. Fresh vegetables are cut and prepared each day, they use only 100% whole milk cheeses, and their meats are of the highest quality available. With the pizzas large and loaded with toppings, one slice may be enough to fill you up, but that means you've always got the delicious leftovers for later! They have great board games to play while waiting.. this is my 9 year old daughter and my FAVE place to hangout.
Customer Reviews
Pho Van on 82nd Ave.
Some of the city's best Asian restaurants, such as Pho Van on SE 82nd Ave., can be found within Montavilla's borders. Delicious authentic Vietnamese food with large portions, they offer great customer service, and a good price. The food is fresh, well-flavored and served by very friendly, and polite staff. Eat great food surrounded by the authentic decor including the Vietnamese stringed instruments hung on the wall, the rickshaw, and the motorbike!
