Portland Voted 2nd Cleanest City in America

In a recent issue of Travel and Leisure magazine, readers named our fair city the second cleanest in the country, ranking just below Minneapolis/St. Paul. This comes as no shock to Portlanders, who are accustomed to great water quality, city-sponsored composting systems and solar-powered trash compactors, yielding to eco-friendly bike commuters and buses, and regular full-service citywashes… Ok, fine, they’re rainstorms, but they do keep the streets clean! The magazine continues:

It’s no shock that this über-eco-friendly city ranked so high in cleanliness; residents take great pride in their public parks and love of the environment. Would you really expect to see streets and parks littered with garbage?

The article also ranked Portland high in Best Skyline, Best Public Transportation, Best Access the the Outdoors, and Most Environmentally Friendly.
