This weekend is bound to be an exciting one, what with all the city-wide events that are really going to showcase the best of Portland. Be sure to check out these celebrations, whether you’re a visitor thinking of moving to Portland or a long time resident, this weekend is going to be all about beer, wine, bridges, and local food. Don’t miss out on all the fun in the sun!

1. 23rd Annual Oregon Brewers Festival 2010 – Featuring more than 80 different craft beers from around the country, the Oregon Brewers Festival is the quintessential summer celebration of craft beer. On a sun soaked July afternoon, there’s no better place to sip suds with friends than along the banks of the Willametter River with the Portland skyline as a backdrop to the West and Mt. Hours: Thurs through Sat, taps are open from Noon to 9 p.m. Sun, taps are open from Noon to 7 p.m.

Admission: Admission into the festival grounds if free. In order to consume beer at the OBF, you must purchase a taster package. Taster packages are available in $10, $20 and $50 increments.

2. International Pinot Noir Celebration 2010
For the past 23 years (just as long as the Brew Fest… I wonder if there is an inherent competition…) the IPNC has been uniting Pinot devotees from all corners of the globe. The 2010 IPNC will host over 60 international Pinot noir producers, 50 top Northwest chefs, and guests from near and far for a memorable weekend of extraordinary tastings, educational seminars, unforgettable meals, and celebrating together in Oregon wine country.

3. PDX Bridge Festival – Hawthorne Lift 100
“Hit the Lights” on July 24th at 10:00 p.m. is the opening for the lighting and fabric installation on the Hawthorne Bridge, possibly the largest art installation in Portland history. The lights accentuate 60 panels of fabric installed in the bridge trusses and lift towers, turning the structure into a wash of color and moving light and marking the rhythm of commuter traffic as it moves across the bridge. The installation will be visible for the 15 days of the festival. This is going to be so amazing, be sure to check out this exciting display!

4. PDX Bridge Festival Portland Eastbank Esplanade Project
This is an outdoor art installation on Saturday which includes over 35 artists and installation sites featuring sculptures and works of art along the Eastbank Esplanade, from the Hawthorne Bridge to the
Steel Bridge. The event opens with a “Feed the Homeless” breakfast event under the Morrison Bridge on the Eastbank Esplanade, and then continues as an artwalk into the afternoon.

5. Portland Farmers Market at PSU 2010
Each of the Portland Farmers Markets strives to bring you healthy, local food and artisanal bounty. Plus, there are activities and fun for the whole family.
