We’re pleased to introduce Pamela McConnell, the organizational genius behind the McDonald Group Realtors. Pamela brings years of experience as a human resources director and small business consultant in Portland, Oregon, as well as super-human organizational skills. I recently sat down with Pamela to talk about her love of Portland, her experience in the local business scene, and her ideas about the future with the McDonald Group. Here’s Pamela!
Why Oregon? What is it about the Northwest that has made you stick around and help businesses in this area?
I am an Oregon native. I did reside for a short time in California while I was going to school, but missed seasons. Yes, that includes the rain. CA has just one big season…and I missed the variety of having snow, rain and sunshine all in one day.
Why the McDonald Group? What is it about Kristie and Scott that made you want to be involved?
Kristie and I have been friends for some years. We met at Dancers Northwest – a local belly dancing troupe – and hit it off. We have the same quirky sense of humor. Once Scott and Kristie got to a place of needing someone with excellent organizational skills for the McDonald Group, they thought of me…and here I am. I am scary organized and they needed someone who could take over all the back office stuff, file management, bookkeeping etc.
What are you excited about in the coming years? Are there any new opportunities that are open to you because of joining the McDonald Group team?
I like the thought of being on the ground floor of Kristie and Scott’s business. I think that they have the drive to make the McDonald Group a premiere Real Estate brand in Portland. I bring a lot of skills to the group that will assist them in being able to grow the business into something that will inhabit a big part of the Portland real estate market.
What were you doing before you joined the McDonald Group?
I was working as the sole Human Resource Administrator for a local shoring company, but after the construction market collapsed I was unable to secure another HR Job. I then decided to begin consulting (starting McConnell Management) with small business that are ready to take the next step in their business. I am an organizational wiz.
What are your hobbies/interests?
I bought a house not long ago so most of my hobbies have become remodeling related. Other than that, I still Belly Dance as time permits. I have a rescue dog (Sheppard/Husky mix named Baron) that has taken a lot of time and patience to get him over his overwhelming insecurities. I also enjoying making crafts, (I had a booth at the Sherwood Farmers Market last year selling handcrafted paper dolls) and watercolor painting.
The McDonald Group is here to help you find homes for sale in Portland, and Pamela is an amazing resource for helping us do just that. Her Portland-area business know-how and people skills makes her a valuable addition to the McDonald Group. We’re so excited to have Pamela on our team!
