I recently suggested to the Street of Dreams that instead of building more homes for the 2010 show, we should instead adopt a street of unattractive ranches homes or better yet, split levels and turn the builders loose!
Embracing the “recycle/reuse” concept we love so much, particularly here in Portland, I think we need to stop building homes and artistically remodel them! To recycle a hard to sell home into something different, attractive, smart AND desireable is the future and it would truly require talent and creativity to make a home of limited size great but in the “small” (another future concept-don’t waste space/take only what you need).
I ran into a home & builder that did exactly this with a NE Portland Home… it’s currently listed for sale so I have a link below (link only good for 2 weeks). There unfortunately aren’t any “before” pictures but the home is fantastic. The link below doesn’t do it justice! The home, by the way was remodeled by Edwin Hesse of Mac-Bo, LLC (on our service provider list under remodeling). -Kristie McD. Your “Everything. Portland. Real Estate.” Agent!
